Trump has announced a dangerous new executive order (EO) that attempts to impose a federal takeover of elections. This is part of a broader Republican plan to rig the 2026 midterms – dismantling voting rights, forcing mass purges, redrawing congressional maps, and even manipulating the Census to silence millions of Americans.
The Putin Connection
Just days after meeting Vladimir Putin in Alaska, Trump bragged that Putin told him it’s “impossible to have mail-in voting and have an honest election.” Three days later, Trump obediently announced an EO to eliminate mail voting. As the L.A. Times reported: “On Putin’s Advice, Trump Launches Assault on Mail-in Ballots and Voting Machines.”
Besides being likely unconstitutional, this is humiliating: the American president parroting a foreign autocrat’s orders. Trump is so desperate to play dictator he’s copy-pasting Putin’s playbook to try and rig our elections.
What the EO Could Do
Trump’s announced executive order could:
Eliminate mail voting and restrict early voting – effectively telling seniors, disabled voters, and working Americans they don’t count.
Replace voting machines with federally approved ones – letting Trump’s regime control where and how votes are counted.
Effectively strip states of their constitutional power to run elections
This is more than clownish overreach. It’s a direct attack on our freedom to vote – the foundation of every other freedom.
The Bigger GOP Plan
The Putin Election Order fits neatly into the GOP’s wider scheme:
The SAVE Act: Built on the myth of noncitizen voting, it would block tens of millions of eligible Americans from voting, effectively ban most registration options, and compel states to conduct problematic mass voter purges.
Census Manipulation: Reviving Trump’s failed plan to erase immigrants from the count, shifting representation and resources to benefit Republicans and “Non-Hispanic Whites” – straight from GOP strategist Thomas Hofeller’s secret files.
Gerrymandering Power Grabs: From Texas to Florida, Republican legislators are rushing to redraw maps mid-decade to lock in a majority before 2026.
Why?
Because Republicans know the truth: if the 2026 midterms are fair, they’ll likely lose. Their agenda is toxic and unpopular – so instead of winning voters, they’re trying to silence us.

This is yet another distraction to steer eyes away from the real problems with the elections, namely the voting machines themselves. If we were to pay attention, we would find out they are being rigged.
