NOTABLE TRENDS

• DOJ & FBI Want to Interview 2020 Election Workers:

  • In Georgia, William McComb, a federal prosecutor working with a grand jury in Fulton County, told a federal judge that the Department of Justice had subpoenaed for the names and addresses of 2020 election workers because federal investigators wanted to try to talk to them. McComb told the judge that they wanted to “question them as witnesses” to find “what improprieties may or may not have happened in the 2020 election and whether that is a continuing situation in this current election cycle or in the next election cycles for the Fulton County Board.”

  • In Wisconsin, the FBI has interviewed current and former election officials about the 2020 election in Milwaukee and have reportedly asked about a flash drive that was briefly forgotten and a conspiracy that there was a secret room in an election office.

• Federal Court Allows Trump’s Executive Order Limiting Mail Voting to Stand: US District Court Judge Carl J. Nichols declined to issue a preliminary injunction blocking Trump’s executive order limiting who can receive mail ballots. Nichols, who was appointed by Trump, said that it was too soon to consider the request for an injunction from the Democratic National Committee and voting rights groups because USPS has not yet adopted a rule on how it will implement the order.

• Southern States Rushing to Redraw Maps Post-Callais Decision:

  • Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall (R) filed an emergency application to the US Supreme Court, asking the court to allow the state to use a congressional map that a lower court found to be intentionally racially discriminatory. Marshall claimed that the lower court’s decision “defies Callias” and asked for a decision no later than June 1 at 10am.

  • Florida Second Circuit Judge Joshua Hawkes, who was appointed by Gov Ron DeSantis (R), denied a motion to block the use of the state’s new congressional map in the 2026 midterms.

  • The Louisiana House passed a new congressional map that would eliminate one of the state’s two majority-Black seats; the bill now returns to the Senate for a final vote.

• Dozens of Voters Experienced Issues Voting:

  • In Kentucky, twelve voters in Louisville got the wrong ballot in the May 19 primary election — preventing them from voting for their preferred candidates during Tuesday’s primary election.

  • In Texas, human error involving a wrong file being uploaded into the voting system caused countywide issues at polling locations for almost 3 hours in Fort Bend County. Some voters were still able to vote while others were given provisional ballots.

STATE ACTIVITY

• Georgia State Election Board Hired Mass Challenger as Investigator: The State Election Board quietly hired Jason Frazier, an election conspiracy theorist who has challenged thousands of Fulton County voters, as the board’s official state investigator. Frazier is connected to Cleta Mitchell’s Election Integrity Network (EIN) and celebrated the FBI’s raid of Fulton County’s 2020 election records. In this role, Frazier is in the position to officially investigate the “same election processes he has spent years criticizing as a private citizen.”

• Louisiana Legislature Passed Bill to Tighten Photo ID Requirements: The state legislature passed SB 319 that, if signed into law by Gov Jeff Landry (R), would eliminate the ability for voters to sign an affidavit in order to vote if they do not have a photo ID. Voters without a photo ID at the polls would have to cast a conditional paper ballot at the parish office of registrar of voters with two days to present the required photo ID for their ballot to count. It would go into effect on July 1, 2027 if signed by Landry.

• Michigan Antrim County Clerk’s Election Denier Husband Had Unsupervised Access to Her Office and Computer: According to a report from the state police, Randy Bishop, the husband of Antrim County Clerk Victoria Bishop who has claimed to have evidence that the 2020 presidential election was stolen, was found watching a video stream of a county board of commissioners meeting in a secure area of the clerk’s office on her office computer. Both of the Bishops told investigators that Randy did not log in to his wife’s computer on his own. Victoria Bishop has been under scrutiny recently for allegedly illegally changing or cancelling voter registrations.

ANTI-VOTING GROUP ACTIVITY

• RNC & North Carolina GOP Celebrated Court Ruling in Their Case Over “Never Resident” Voters: The Republican National Committee and the North Carolina Republican Party claimed a court victory in their case challenging the ability for so-called “never resident” voters, voters who were born outside of the United States whose parents or guardians last lived in North Carolina before moving overseas. The state’s Uniform Military and Overseas Voter Act allows these voters to vote in North Carolina, but the state and national GOPs challenged the law in 2024.
